Dear Sarah Dyer Barnes Families,
I want to warmly welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year.
As your principal, I feel extremely fortunate to work with motivated and dedicated educators, support staff, amazing students, and parents & family members who all work as a team to create a successful and collaborative student learning environment. Our Barnes community is insightful and empathetic. They work daily to help provide an excellent educational experience for all students and are committed to ensuring that your children receive the best support to learn, grow and evolve into global citizens.
We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and your child to provide a safe and productive learning environment. I encourage you to stop in, attend PTO events, reach out to your child’s teacher, or call me to share ideas, concerns, or questions. Current research in education demonstrates that positive parental involvement is the biggest factor in determining student success in school. This involvement can take many forms but one important way of involvement means getting children to school every day and getting them there on time. Being present to check in with your child regarding homework, and long-term projects, providing a quiet place for work completion, and staying informed about progress, social-emotional growth, and grades are all important to student success and motivation in school.
I look forward to the coming school year and welcoming our new all-day Kindergarten class!
I wish all our Barnes’ students, educators, and families great success this year.
Ms. Jill Souza, CAGS, M.Ed.
